They would be terrible con games for the reasons mentioned. Thus my caveat is to not run these adventures as one-shots.

Having knights suddenly start acting like the protagonists of a zombie movie is the opposite of what you want. So why the caveat? Due to the ubiquity of undead in the hobby, and now pop culture as well, they come with a lot of conceptual baggage that many players might bring to the table. They are not just a cut-and-paste of modern ideas of zombies or ghosts shoehorned into Pendragon, but rather medieval ideas of them explored in a properly thematic manner. They are well-crafted and do an excellent job of bringing ghosts and other spooky entities into Pendragon. Viewed purely as itself, the adventures are very good. I have now read through this book, and as a result, my impression is slightly more favorable, with a caveat. And scholar characters, while great for Call of Cthulhu, has little appeal to me in Pendragon.Д«ut I haven't read it, so I could be totally wrong. None of that sounds especially appealing to me maybe an adventure with an undead threat is useful as a change of pace, but the hobby as a whole certainly doesn't lack for usage of the restless dead as antagonists.
